Unsold Sourav Ganguly In Kochi Ipl Team (Kochi Tigers) - IPL 4 (2011) :

There is a ray of hope for Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly as after being ignored by all the nine franchisees of Indian Premiere League (IPL), during Auction 2011, Kochi Team is likely to sign Ganguly on board.

As far as IPL 2011 is concerned, it seems like game is still not over for Ganguly. Kochi Team, which is making its IPL debut in this season, reportedly, is keen to take Bengal Tiger ‘Ganguly’ in their team.

However, the only condition is that the rest of the nine franchises have to agree to Kochi signing Ganguly, as the IPL rules clearly state that the capped players put up for auction can only be bought through an open bidding process.

As per the reports, Kochi franchise is said to have furnished a request to the BCCI for the acquisition of the Prince of Kolkata in their squad. They have asked the IPL Governing Council to grant them permission to sign the former India captain. Kochi has signed up just one Indian capped player (VVS Laxman) to the team’s composition.

As per the available information, BCCI has no objection on its part. “If the franchises have no objection, why should we stand in any player`s way to play in the IPL? However, there is no question of bending the rule or making an exception,” said a Governing Council member.
